Stanley Allen Melia

Stanley Allen Melia, 76, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at The Philomena Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Kyle, TX, of pneumonia complications due to a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

He was born on January 14, 1948 in Houston, TX, to Vincent Melia and Cecile Kollaja Melia. He served in the U.S. Air Force and attended school at Abilene Christian University. He settled down and resided in Austin, TX where he worked as a computer/software engineer and raised three children.

A man of many talents, his family will remember him as a very hardworking and intelligent man. He was a problem solver and tinkerer, and no task ever seemed to be too much of a challenge for him. His hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially with computers, and classic cars. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He was an avid fan of music and loved to play the drums. To his children, he would instill his values of hardwork and the importance of their education and careers, often sacrificing personal goals to ensure their success in life. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions. He was a devoted and loving father, and he was a man of integrity and generosity. He could always light up a room with his smile and humor. He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Korrie Melia Johnson and her husband Jason Johnson, and two sons, Chandler Melia, and Rourke Melia; brother Eugene Melia and his wife Gay Melia, and sister Ellen (Dolly) Melia; and four nieces; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A service to celebrate Stanley’s life will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with the Funeral Service to begin at 1:00pm, all at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. Following the service, Stanley will be laid to rest at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
