

Stephen Frederick King, 72, of Magnolia, Texas, passed away on February 28, 2021, surrounded by loved ones after a valiant fight with lung cancer. His fight with cancer the past year showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile; he never lost his quick wit and sense of humor.
Steve was born to Alwyn Penn King Jr. and Jeannette Jackson King on June 14, 1948, in Houston, Texas.
He attended St. John’s School and graduated from Lamar High School in 1966. Steve attended Lamar University and became well known as an Independent oil and gas Landman.
Steve met the love of his life, Karen, on a blind date in 1969. Soon after, they eloped to Las Vegas and had just recently celebrated 51 years of marriage at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Kristin Hunter (Alan), and son Stephen B. King. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Jackson Hunter and Nori King. His family brought extreme joy into his life and he spoke of them often.
Steve will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his love and knowledge of sports, playing poker, Karen’s cooking and being with his family.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alwyn Penn (Buck) King III.
On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, a gathering will be held at 1:00pm in the Grand Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston, Texas, followed by a graveside ceremony at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
