

Teodoro (a.k.a. Lolo) Gutierrez, 97 years, passed away on May 15, 2023, at his home in Houston, TX. He was born on July 31, 1925, in Brownsville, TX to Teodoro and Felicitas (Garcia) Gutierrez. He lived much of his youth and early adulthood in General Terán, Nuevo León, Mexico.
Teodoro Gutierrez was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In his professional life, Teodoro was a crane operator and dedicated 37 years to his career in the steel industry. He was known as an exceptionally dedicated and hard worker who would take every opportunity to work extra shifts to provide the best possible life for his family. Outside of work, Teodoro had a passion for automotives and earned a Hemphill Auto Mechanic Certification for which he was very proud.
Family was at the center of Teodoro's life. He celebrated 70 years of marriage to the love of his life, Esther (Cortina) who survives him. He was a beloved father to Maria Del Socorro (Antonio) Martinez, Bertha Alicia (Juan) Flores, Jorge Luis (Norma) Gutierrez, Javier (Dorothy) Gutierrez, Arturo (Cathy) Gutierrez who preceded him in death in 2013, Yolanda (Fred) Deven, Armando (Jaynie) Gutierrez, Teodoro (Donna) Gutierrez Jr. and he worked hard to ensure that all his children received a Catholic education. He was a devoted grandfather to 17 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He created countless memories with his family, and his love and guidance will be treasured forever.
Teodoro's warm personality and kind heart touched the lives of many. He had a unique ability to tell captivating stories of his youth that became family folklore and
catchphrase sayings that have become a part of family lexicon. He will be remembered for his work ethic, devotion, and desire to protect his family.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Teodoro Gutierrez’ life will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their fondest memories.
Although we mourn the loss of Teodoro Gutierrez, we take comfort in the memories we shared and the legacy he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal rest and may the perpetual light of God shine upon him.
