Thelma, the matriarch of our home and family, raised her daughter, Patrice (53), to be an independent and thoughtful adult in a loving home. As a grandmother to Roderick (33), Ashley (25), and Isaiah (24) and great-grandmother to Aminah (3), she was a loving grandma and instilled values and hard work in them. She was always there for all her grandchildren when they needed her the most, and she loved her daughter more than life itself.
Thelma, with her hearty laugh and kind heart, will be dearly missed. In her final days, she expressed her wish for no service, wanting us to remember her with joy and not sadness.
She found solace in the thought of reuniting with her grandmother, Mother Mary, and urged us to embrace this belief.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Bonds, and Father, Herbert McCall.
Thelma leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by her surviving family members: her daughter, Patrice Chance (Maurice); her grandsons, Roderick Sanders Jr. and Isaiah Chance; her granddaughter, Ashley Johnson, and her great-granddaughter, Aminah Johnson, will forever hold her in their hearts. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Ward, her nephews Larry Ward Jr. and Jason Ward; her sister by love, Pearl Ward, and her cousins, Jesse Mae and Debra, among many other family and friends.
