Todd Blake Mitchell, aged 58, of Houston, Texas, passed away May 4, 2022, after a short but brave battle with cancer. Born July 12, 1963, in Houston, Texas, Todd was the son of Sammie L. Mitchell and the late Alex Mitchell II. Todd, a life-long Houstonian, graduated from Waltrip High School and attended Baylor University and the University of Houston. Todd loved learning and enjoyed reading books on every subject ranging from math and science to history. He was intelligent and kind, and although usually quiet, if you could get him talking, he was engaging and happy to share what he had learned.
Todd is survived by his mother, Sammie L Mitchell. A devoted son, Todd spent the last several years as her companion, chauffeur, and IT guy. He was always available and willing to do anything she needed around the house and in the garden, which he enjoyed tending to with attention and care.
He is also survived by six siblings: Sheryl Borski and her husband, Gary; Michelle Machin; Michael Machin and his wife Deborah; Melody Appleton and her husband Chris; Martin Machin and his wife Amy; and Mia Powell and her husband Joel; as well as more than 30 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Todd is preceded in death by his father, Alex Mitchell II, his step-mother, Glenda Mitchell, and his older brother, Trey Mitchell.
A graveside service for Todd will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 North Main St., Houston, Texas 77009.
