Treva Bushnell was born on July 25, 1949, to the late Arnie B. Henderson and Mildred Mosley Henderson in Marshall, Texas. During her early childhood she attended elementary school in Marshall and Dallas, Texas. Upon moving to Houston, she attended Kashmere Junior High School and graduated from Kashmere Senior High School in 1967. She then attended college at Texas Southern University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1971.
Treva accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted daughter who attended Kashmere Gardens Church of Christ for many, many years with her late mother and sister.
While attending high school Treva met the love of her life, Herbert Bushnell and they both went to college together. On August 3, 1974, they were married and by the grace of God, this union has lasted for over 50 years.
Treva was gifted and passionate about her career in Accounting, Finances and Tax Preparation. She worked in the industry for over 50 years and continued working at H&R Block until she became ill this year.
She was such a beautiful and extraordinary lady with an amazing smile. Treva enjoyed being a majorette in high school just like her mother was. She was someone who loved people and loved being surrounded by people of all nationalities. She loved travelling and she travelled extensively throughout the country and abroad. She had many friends who she developed strong bonds with throughout her life.
Treva loved cooking and entertaining family and friends for all occasions, especially on July 4th, her mom’s Birthday. For many years she enjoyed accompanying her husband to the drag races, as she was his number one fan and personal cheerleader. For years, Treva swore that she could never do dogs, but God said otherwise. She and Herbert adopted their first pet dog Rocky, who became their first child; Rocky was genuinely loved unconditionally. When she was in the hospital and his name was mentioned she would light up with a beautiful smile.
Treva spent her last days of illness surrounded by love and prayers with her husband, brother, sister, and family. She departed from this place to a better one with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital in Houston, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnie B. Henderson and Mildred Mosley Henderson.
Treva leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Herbert Bushnell, her pet Rocky, her siblings: Shirley Henderson and Kenneth Henderson (Yolanda); Aunts: Doris Anderson of Dallas, TX.; Cecelia Henderson of Buffalo, NY., A host of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, In-laws; Allen Bushnell, Teresa Viser and friends.
