Uncle Donnie

Donald Hurst “Uncle Donnie” Porter, 84 passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in a Baytown hospital. He was born on February 24, 1929 at home in the Heights in Houston, Texas. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey and Josephine Porter, 6 siblings, and life long friend and business partner, Ralph Reina.

He is survived by his one remaining brother, Homer Porter and wife Barbara of California and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a life long friend, Helga Warsinsky of Houston.

Donald lived a long life with lots of family and friends. He loved being outdoors fishing, racing boats at the Bayshore Boat Club and spending time at the lake house with Helga, Ralph and other friends. He was an avid gun collector and also was a big clock collector. He moved in with his nephew, David and wife, Becky of Beach City last summer and enjoyed many sunrises and sunsets overlooking Trinity Bay.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 9 a.m. with services following at 10 a.m. at Heights Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. Following Uncle Donnie’s wishes there will be no graveside service or reception. May he now rest in peace.
