Vernon Odell Ballard

Vernon “Peanut” Ballard, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Known affectionately as “Peanut or MawMaw,” she will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the deep love she had for those around her.

She is survived by her four children: Freda (Rene), Charles (Deborah), Henry (Sharon), and Fay. Vernon was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Sara (Tim), Charles Jr.

(Christina), Samuel (Kristan), Charla (Brandon), Crystal (Ryan), Cody (Jessica), Shonda (Larry), and Jacob.

Her legacy continues through her 21 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Adam, Austin, Andi (Roy), Charles III, Nicole, Anthony (Desiree), Bryce (Lexie), Addison, Bailey, Ava, Dexter, Kaitlynn, Zane, David, Christopher, Dylan, Jordan, Andrea, Victoria, and Alyssa; as well as her four great-great-grandchildren: Jax, Lauren, Amelia, Adelynn, Luna and Rowan. She also leaves behind many other cherished family members and dear friends.

Vernon was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dow Ballard; her son, Robert Dow Ballard Jr.; her granddaughter, Flo Forbes; her mother and father, Albert and Freida Keller; her brother, Gail; her sisters, Boots, Sissy and Khaki.

Vernon’s life was a testament to the importance of family, love, and resilience. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
