Vickie Cunningham, 81, was a beloved wife, mother, and “Mamaw” to not only her grandchildren, but to all who loved her. She passed away peacefully into the arms of The Lord on Monday, December 15, in her Heights home surrounded by the love of her family. Vickie was born in 1934, and was what you would call a true “Heights girl”. She grew up on Teetshorn St. until she married the love of her life, Charles. Vickie was a loving woman, spending her spare time driving children to school functions and sporting events. Her home was always filled with a family and friends that enjoyed her fun nature and delicious cooking. She had many passions, such as, having lunch with the girls, taking trips to Galveston Island, her strong relationship with God, and the color blue. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Garden Oaks Church of Christ where she sang songs with the children and shared her love of Christ. She spent many years working in the family business where she was often affectionately referred to by employees and customers as “pretty lady”. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Bergin- Wilborn, and her two sisters Vaughter Shearer, and Tommie Neal Paramore. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Lee Cunningham Jr., and her four children, Bobbie Cunningham Wilson, Charles Lee Cunningham III, Joe Alan Cunningham Sr. and Karan Cunningham Lozano.
Vickie leaves behind a trail of love within her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of which were by her side when The Lord called her home. Her spirit is now with The Father, and though her body will soon be buried, her legacy will live on in all of those she touched. Our family would like to give a special thanks to Laurie Cunningham. She loved you dearly and you made this transition a beautiful experience. We would also like to thank Juana Argueta. The kindness and love you showed our mom and the generosity you shared during our difficult time was greatly appreciated.
