Virginia Rae "Gin-Gin" Gainer passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in New Caney, Texas at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Raymond D. Gainer; her son, Keith Ray Gainer; and parents, Dan and Gladys Singleton. Survived by her son, Kevin Duane Gainer and wife Lisa; grandchildren Mitchell Gainer and wife Aly, Kindell Kiper and husband Jeremy, Jami'Lee Guillory, and Skilynn Guillory; great-grandchildren Rowan Gainer, daughter of Mitch and Aly, and Serenity Walker, daughter of Jami'Lee; and her aunt, Dorothy Hutchinson.
She was born on August 25, 1941 in Houston, Texas where she was raised as an only child by her parents, Dan and Gladys Singleton. As a young girl, Virginia enjoyed playing the piano and dancing. She was a member of the Houstonettes Company C Drill Team at Sam Houston High School. In 1958, she met Raymond aka "Jitterbug" who would eventually become her husband. While dating, they enjoyed spending time at Prince's Drive-In and the bowling alley. They were later married on May 13, 1960. The couple had their first child, Kevin Duane, on April 19, 1962. On July 18, 1964 their second child, Keith Ray was born. He was called home just a short two days later due to complications. Imagine how happy her heart was, meeting her son for the very first time when she went to be with The Lord. One of Virginia's greatest blessings, was becoming "Gin-Gin" to her 4 grandchildren, Mitch, Kindell, Jami'Lee, & Skilynn. During her time as a grandmother, she enjoyed being by Paw-Paw's side as they attended all sporting events, recitals, and school functions. Gin-Gin always had a true love for her many dogs and various animals that she took in throughout her life. In her most recent years, she loved cooking and being with family. Gin-Gin most recently got promoted to a Great-Grandma when Rowan Everly and Serenity Marie were welcomed into the family. She also had many "adopted grandchildren" as she would say, including, but not limited to, Stephen, Tyler, Taylor, Kelsey, and Chance. Gin-Gin was more than a name, but a meaning that extended beyond her immediate family.
