

William Eugene McMorris, 84, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was born in Houston, Texas August 7, 1932 to Mrs. Mary Mabel (May) McMorris and her husband Arthur Hjorth. William was predeceased by his Parents and an older brother Arthur McMorris, and a son, William E. McMorris, Jr. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law Mary Lou and Robert Ehrlund, and sister-in-law Arden McMorris, and sister-in-law Thelma Sue Cody and nephew Benjamin V. Cody. He is also survived by three children and their families: Margaret Spitzenberger and husband, Rudolph Spitzenberger, Jr. and their sons Cody and Chris Spitzenberger; son David Charles McMorris and wife Kim; and a son Joseph Robert McMorris and wife Kathleen and their two children Abigail and Jacob. Bill attended Johnson Junior High and Stephen F. Austin Senior High where Bill was on the swim team and lettered in diving. After graduation, Bill attended the University of Houston, and ultimately joined the U. S. Coast Guard for two years aboard the ship Mendota patrolling the frigid N. Atlantic as a Radioman. During this time, while on leaves, Bill renewed his friendship with a high school friend, Mary Ruth Cody, and they ultimately married on June 4, 1956 in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Houston. His career path led Bill to work for several companies in Houston, and his natural gifts of honesty, truthfulness and integrity supported his work as an Accountant through the years. He always enjoyed being an Usher at First Presbyterian Church and he and Mary Ruth were faithful members of The Fellowship Class. Bill will long be remembered for his loving nature and his faithfulness to God in worship. He has passed on his legacy to his children and grandchildren who loved and respected him. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 12:30 PM-1:30 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with Interment at 1:30 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main St. Houston, TX at 3:30 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
