Tom was born to William Hastings Stokes and Hazel “Vidrine” Stokes, March 11, 1942, in Bunkie, Louisiana. He graduated from La Grange High School in 1960 and received an Education degree from the McNeese State University in 1964. He married Harriet Ann “Brooks” Stokes in 1971, and they lived together in Houston, Texas. Together they raised two children.
He is survived by: Harriet Ann Stokes, Thomas Paul Stokes (Son), Ronald Craig Perry (Son) and seven grandchildren: Shelby Stokes, Allison Stokes, Victoria Stokes, Molly Stokes, Thomas Parker Stokes, Danielle “Perry” Solis and Jessi Perry.
He also leaves to cherish his memory Gayle “Stokes” Berkley (Sister), Brenda “Stokes” Carroll (Sister), James Stokes (Brother) and Robert Stokes (Brother).
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Tom worked as a Contract & Procurement Manager for various Oil & Gas Engineering firms for nearly 50 years in various locations including Shanghai China, Kuwait City Kuwait, Baghdad Iraq and Hawaii. He enjoyed raising his sons, breeding champion show Doberman dogs, bow and rifle hunting, basketball (which he played in High School), football and going to the gym which he did daily since 1957. He was also a member of the US National Guard in his youth.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday July 6th, with a visitation starting at 11am and funeral service at 1pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston, Texas.
