Doris often said that her greatest blessings in life were her children and grandchildren of whom she was so proud. She was an electronics assembler for most of her working career but, when she retired she and her husband turned her painting talent into a successful small business, Ceramic Creations.
Doris moved to Magnolia, Texas in 2000 with her husband and was a member at Magnolia United Methodist Church. She enjoyed Sunday drives as well as traveling out of state, often to visit her grandchildren. She was an avid movie fan. And, she loved nature whether she was collecting shells on the beach, walking in the forest, or watching butterflies in her vegetable garden at home.
A service celebrating her life will be held Friday, May 6, 2011, at 10 am at Earthman Resthaven at 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas. Her nephew Darrell Stevens will officiate. Pallbearers are sons Robert and Alan, grandsons Brad, Ian and Dylan, and her nephew Larry Stevens, Jr. Internment will be at Klein Memorial Park in Magnolia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
Her family wishes to thank the doctors, surgeons, nurses and staff at Park Manor Tomball, Tomball Regional, and Triumph Hospital for the care they provided to "Miss Willie" over the last year.
