Barbara Lynn Hughes

Barbara Lynn Hughes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother (known lovingly as “Meme”), sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on July 3, 1938, Barbara dedicated her life to her family, filling her home with warmth, love, and cherished memories.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, John Hughes. Together, they built a life rich in love and family, and their bond remains an inspiring testament to all who knew them. She is also survived by her son, Scott Hughes; her son-in-law Greg Barrett, her grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Williamson and Adam (Shannon) Barrett; her great-grandchildren, Ellie and Parker Williamson; her sister, Judie (Frank) Estes; and her brother, Bill (Glenda) Lynn; along with several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Vickie Barrett, and her beloved grandson, Grant Barrett. She will also be reunited with her parents, Alonzo and Eloise Lynn, along with her brothers and sister. Her heart was full of love for them, and her memory will carry forward the love and light she gave to them in her lifetime.

Barbara’s legacy lives on in her family and friends, who will remember her as a gentle, devoted woman with a compassionate spirit. Her family, especially, will treasure the memories she created with them and hold close the love she poured into every moment.

A visitation for Barbara will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
