Catherine Anne Magnant, 77, of Huntsville passed away at Crestwood Medical Center November 30 2018 after losing her battle with cancer. Kay, as she was affectionately known, was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on August 12, 1941 to Ellen L (Griffith) Slater.
She graduated from Venice Florida High School in 1960 and moved to Huntsville in 1961 where she met and married Kenneth Magnant on December 22, 1962. She graduated from LaSalle University with a degree in Interior Design. She passionately pursued adult education, music, and the arts as well as many clubs and activities in Huntsville.
She is survived by her husband, Ken, two sons, Lance and Mark both of Huntsville and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Slater of Ft. Worth Texas. Her mother, Ellen Calahan and brother, James Slater, preceded her in death.
A casual dress Visitation/Celebration of Life is planned for December 15, 2018 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Valhalla Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clearview Cancer Institute Huntsville Alabama or the American Cancer Society.
