

Mr. Graves was a veteran of the United States Air Force; served 20 years with the Huntsville Police Department and
another 20 years as Chief of Police with the Madison Police Department. “Papa”, as he was affectionately called by his family,
was a devout Christian and loved making wood carvings. Mr. Graves was predeceased by his parents, Ollie B. Graves and Nellie Mae Graves;
son, Charles E. Graves, Jr.; and brother, Otis “Booster” Graves.
He leaves to this world, his precious wife of 64 years, Alice Marcheta Graves of Hazel Green, AL; son, Burl Lewis “Buddy” Graves
and his wife, Kathleen Payne Graves of Harvest, AL; daughter, Angela Graves Wharton and her husband, Alan Harrison Wharton
of Toney, AL; grandchildren, Seth Lewis Graves of Nashville, TN, Brooke LeShawn Brown of Madison, AL, Waymon Cain Graves
of Brownsboro, AL and Owen Edward Brown of Toney, AL; great-grandchildren, Jacob Owen Brown of Harvest, AL,
Jaden James Mansbridge of Madison, AL, Charles Hollis Cain Graves “Little Charlie” of Brownsboro, AL and Caelyn Danielle Graves “KK”
of Brownsboro, AL; and brother, Alton L. Graves of Huntsville, AL. Friends and family may pay their respects Friday, October 9, 2015
from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, with the chapel service immediately following at 2:00 pm.
Police Honors and Interment will take place at Huntsville Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL.
