

Command Sergeant Major (U.S. Army, retired) Chester "Sam" Alfred Potter, age 87, of Kaneohe, Hawaii passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. He was born April 30, 1934 in Waltham, Massachusetts to the late Gordon and Roxie(Martin) Potter. Sam passed away while under in-home hospice at his residence in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Chester served in the U.S. Army for 25 years, retiring in 1976 as a Command Sergeant Major (E9) He served as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Moore’s Mill Volunteer Fire Department in Alabama. After he moved to Hawaii, he was active in the Kailua Seniors Club, serving as an officer. He was a Deacon at Reunion Hawaii Church.
Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Eiko Sato Potter, Daughter Mary Duke, Son David Potter, brother Donald Potter, sister Lorraine Potter and brother Robert Potter.
Left to cherish Sam's memory are Daughters; Amy Langley and Frabcis Kirtland. Brother, Joseph Potter, and sisters June Gentile and Janice Kirtland. Grandchildren; Christy Boyd, Staephanie Campbell, Jennifer Duke, Samantha Duke, Ryan otter, Ashley Simms, Justin Kirtland, Joshua Langley and Victoria Saludez; as well as 11 great grandchildren.
We will honored and celebrate his life on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Mastin Lake Church of God of Prophecy located at 2713 Mastin Lake Rd Huntsville, Al with Bishop David Browder officiating. There will be luncheon beginning at 1:00 pm provided by the church, if you plan to attend, please help us get an approximate head count by emailing [email protected] There will be a graveside service with military honors at 3:30 at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
