Ellie Ann King, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on May 8, 2025. She was born on October 9, 1938, in Coy, Arkansas, the cherished daughter of Hubert Lee Lantrip and Nurine Gordon.
Ellie was a woman of deep kindness, quick wit, and boundless compassion. She had a heart for animals—especially dogs—and her loyal companion, Buck, rarely left her side in the years after the passing of her husband, Kenneth. Ellie and Kenneth shared 60 devoted years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and quiet strength.
Ellie had a way of making everyone feel special. She was well known for her famous blueberry muffins, which she shared generously with friends, neighbors, her banker, and even the local veterinarian. If you knew Ellie, there’s a good chance you tasted one of those muffins. She also loved gardening and birdwatching, and she never turned away a stray animal. In the winter, she kept boxes with blankets on her porch to give them shelter. Birds seemed to sense her gentle spirit—especially the friendly crows who often left her little gifts in return.
She had a natural gift with children and filled so many of their lives with joyful memories—catching fireflies, telling endless jokes, and making ordinary days feel magical. Ellie also briefly joined the Red Hat Ladies, adding her own sparkle and laughter to the group.
Ellie is survived by her loving son, Joey King; granddaughters Jennifer King, Christina Boden, and Hosanna King; and great-grandchildren Gabriella Grossi-King, Victoria King, Anastashia King, Estrella Alvarez-King, Ruxon Boden, Harmony King, and Carter King. She also leaves behind her dear sister Marilyn (Travis) Kitchens, her niece, Sarah Kitchens and nephews, David (Melissa) and Stephen (Allison) Kitchens and treasured friends.
During her final days, she proclaimed when talking about her family --“They brought peace, love, and joy into my life and so much happiness.”
A devoted member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, Ellie’s faith and love were at the heart of everything she did. She will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, and her way of making everyone feel truly at home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Locust Grove Baptist Church, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service where Ellie will be laid to rest with her sweetheart in the church cemetery.
