Gary often said his greatest achievement in life was his 2 wonderful children, Aaron & Carla. Along the way he also reached the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts, was a proud Veteran having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force, earned a BS in Geography from MSU where he met his loving wife of 43 years, had a 20 year career making Maps and a decade of Teaching.
Gary loved his family more than anything. He was a devoted, loving, and supportive husband. He was also the best dad that anyone could ask for. He instilled an appreciation of life, beauty, and the power of positive thinking upon his children and his lessons still hold true to this day. He was immeasurably proud of his children and grandchildren.
Gary spent countless hours immersed in hobbies that he loved. Listening to and creating music, studying maps, working on his stamp collection, and beautifying his homes with landscaping. These hobbies embodied an appreciation for the arts, the physical world, history, and the beauty of nature. He enjoyed maintaining his home and finding cool rocks everywhere he went. This array of interests allowed him to have a wholistic and open worldview which he was happy to share for the enlightenment of anyone who would listen to him, especially his children. In addition to inspiring his own children, Gary used his knowledge to encourage his students in the Gaylord public school system and as a professor at North Central Michigan College.
He was a unique individual who was cool, goofy, wise, caring, loving, talented and passionate about the beauty of our world. He will be dearly missed.
Gary is survived by his wife Blanche (Conrad), son Aaron (Rafal Sami), daughter Carla, and grandsons Abraham & Jonah. Siblings Mike (Jo), Eileen Corbin (Doc), Jeanette Bronaugh (John) and Linda Michael (Rick). He was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Edna (Tomlinson) Hyatt.
An Open House Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday September 26th at 12231 Germany Road in Fenton, Michigan from 2 PM to 5 PM.
