Dr. Jack Walker Moore, age 60, of Huntsville, Alabama, was born on February 11, 1966, and passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by family, on May 1, 2026. Dr. Moore, an accomplished orthopedic surgeon, graduated from high school at Madison Academy in 1984 and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Harding University, where he also played wide receiver for the Harding Bisons. After graduating summa cum laude from Harding, he attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and then completed his internship and residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He also completed an AO trauma sports medicine fellowship in Jackson, Wyoming. Dr. Moore was certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons with a specialty in sports medicine that focused on joint replacement and knee and shoulder arthroscopy. He practiced medicine at SportsMED and served as the team doctor for his alma mater, Madison Academy.
As a boy, Jack learned his work ethic from his father, who taught him to garden and raise cattle on their family farm. In high school and college, that work ethic helped him to distinguish himself as an excellent student and a gifted athlete. Watching sports, especially Alabama football, was one of his favorite pastimes. Jack was also a talented musician who played the piano and enjoyed listening to good music, especially contemporary praise and worship music. Along with using his gift to lead worship at the Light, he participated in the ministry at His Way, was a member of the Emmaus Community, and joined mission trips to Ghana and Ecuador with Madison Academy. But all who knew Jack well know that his most cherished time was spent on the ski slopes with his family. The Moores carved out time to ski at different resorts, accepting and relishing the challenges of new, unfamiliar slopes together.
Dr. Jack Moore is survived by his wife, Andrea, and his three children, Maci Mize (Joel), Jackson Moore (Hannah), Tinsley Krulak (Matthew) and his three precious granddaughters, Lively and Amelia Moore and Ann Collins Krulak. He is also survived by his mother, Trudy Moore, his sister Cindy Richardson (Dane), his nephew, Austin Richardson (Tori), and his niece Savannah Harmon (Will). He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Billy Sam Moore.
Visitation will be held at Mayfair church of Christ on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service for family only will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
