June was born June 26, 1935 in Iron River, MI to Loren and Hazel Seger. She graduated from Waukegan High School in 1953. As a young woman, she met the love of her life, George Robert Painter, to whom she was married for 67 1/2 years. They moved to and built a life together in Huntsville, where they raised their three children, Debbie, Bob, and Michael.
In addition to caring for her family, June was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for many years. She was known for her strength to overcome challenges and her contentment with the simple joys of life. She served her church and community with humility, wanting no recognition except to hear God say "well done, good and faithful servant."
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anita Mifflin; and son, Michael Painter. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. George Painter; daughter, Debbie (Robert) Williams of Knoxville, TN; and son Bob (Cheryl) Painter of Huntsville. Additionally, she is survived by her grandsons, Robert (Whitney) Williams; Nicholas (Andrea) Williams; and Bobby (Kiyanna) Painter; granddaughter, Tori Painter; and great-granddaughters, Kennedy and Hazel Williams and Eleanor Williams.
A Celebration of Life will be held January 26 at 2 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home with Rev. David Kling officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
