

Kenneth H. Montgomery, 90, of Madison Alabama passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024. He was born September 4, 1934 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Roscoe and Mamie (Bolton) Montgomery. Fraternal twin to his brother Charles, both he and his other brothers and sisters were raised at the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home where he met his childhood sweetheart, Mary E. Birkel.
Kenneth is survived by his wife; Mary Montgomery, his children; Earl (Mary) Montgomery of Columbus, Ohio, Mary (Brian) Brun of Huntsville, Alabama, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister; Ester Rubino.
Kenneth graduated from West Point and served in Vietnam as a Captain and then as a Major. He commanded a unit in Korea as a Lt. Colonel. He graduated with a Master’s degree in 1973 from the University of Rochester in Statistical Systems Analysis. He retired as a Colonel in the United States Army after serving his country for 30 years. After retiring from the military he moved to Huntsville Alabama to work for IITRI for another 15 years. After his final retirement, he spent time investing in real estate and reading about military history and strategies of famous generals. He even spent time learning about his father who had served in World War I.
A private visitation and interment will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:00 am at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens 698 Winchester Rd NE Huntsville, Alabama 35811
