As a NASA test engineer, Lauren worked on the space shuttle main engine program as an air flow specialist. As the family genealogist, Lauren studied records throughout her life, connecting far-flung members of her family together. A lover of science fiction and fantasy, Lauren loved reading and telling stories with her friends and family. Her kindness, smile, and wit charmed everyone who met her. Lauren courageously battled Stage 4 breast cancer since April 2012. From the halls of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to backyard chicken coops, Lauren approached every challenge with optimism and excitement to learn more.
Lauren is survived by her husband, Glenn Snellgrove; children James Snellgrove, Diana Snellgrove, and Robert Snellgrove; her mother Joan Mahorter; her sister Lynda Mahorter and her brother Robert Mahorter.
Lauren was preceded in death by her father Robert G Mahorter.
A celebration of life for Lauren will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Winchester Road Baptist Church, 1262 Winchester Road NE, Huntsville, AL 35811.
