Linda Ruth Stevens

October 16, 1943 – December 29, 2014

Linda Ruth Stevens, 71, passed away peacefully Monday, December 29, 2014 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Louisville, MS to Homer Lee and Corrie Romedy Dempsey on October 16, 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold D. Hunt; a brother, David Dempsey; 2 sisters, Nelda Dempsey and Carolyn McIntyre; and her granddaughter, Erin Alyssa Canter.

Mrs. Stevens is survived by her daughter Nicole Hunt Canter and husband Shaun Canter; 2 sisters, Ernestine Summerford and Shirley Stephens; her brother, Joel Dempsey; her best friend, Saundra Disney, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda was a former member of Elks Lodge #1648 in Huntsville and the PTH Club at Mississippi State University. In their early marriage years she and her husband Harold were active members at Fanning Heights Church of Christ. Linda loved family and life and socializing! She liked a reason to get together with people especially if there was gift-giving involved, which she was so good at. She also liked MSU and Auburn and watching football, along with her various volunteer efforts at the Elks Lodge.

You may visit with the family at Valhalla on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. There will be a funeral service conducted by Bro. Billy Loveday commencing at 2:00PM in Valhalla’s chapel. The interment will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. in lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association at http://www.alz.org.
