

It is with great sadness that the family of Louis F Toth Jr announce his passing on January 13 at the age of 78 after a long battle with kidney disease. Known for his infectious smile Louis touched the lives of all who knew him.
Louis was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on November 27, 1947. Son of Louis F Toth Sr and Jennie Toth. He is survived by his son Geoffrey Toth, daughter Jessica Durham, former wife Deborah Toth mother of his children. He is also survived by his two brothers Greg and Richard Toth. Three grandchildren Alyssa, Madelyn, Christopher and daughter-in-law Christina Toth.
Louis graduated from the University Missouri Rolla with a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering on May 11,1975. Louis obtained his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering on January 25, 1970. Louis served our country honorably as an officer in the US Army obtaining the rank of Captain.
Louis was one of the inventors of Bioerodible magnesium alloy microstructures for endoprostheses; these are devices preventing collapsing of the tubular structures of the body, e.g. stents.
Louis was a lifelong MLB Dodgers and NFL Giants fan. Louis was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, golfing and his number one hobby was watching his grandchildren play their sports in middle and high school. He also enjoyed mentoring and tutoring in their academia.
Louis will be remembered for his compassion and love toward his family.
Visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, located at 698 Winchester Rd, Huntsville, Alabama, on January 21, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
The Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue on January 21, 2026, starting at 1:00 pm.
