On the afternoon of March 5th, Mary entered the gates of Heaven to be with the love of her life, her late husband, Lionel.
Mary leaves behind a family full of loved ones to forever miss her. She leaves behind five children, Lionel Edgerly (Flora) of Del Rio, TX; Nancy McCoy (Mike) of Elkmont, AL; Eugene Edgerly (Robin) of Warrior, AL; Teri Davis (Keith) of Lacey's Spring, AL and Sheila Keese (William) of Ocala, FL. Mary had 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren who will always love and miss her. Preceding her were her parents, Root Leroy and Iva Mary Miles, four brothers, William, Andrew, Daniel and Herbert Miles, and one sister, Corle Miles.
Mary's faith was very important to her, and she was active in her church circles, and sang in the church choir while her older children were growing up. She was active in her sorority in Huntsville also. She held the office of President there one year, Treasurer for two years, as well as being honored Woman of the Year in the sorority another year. She and Lionel loved to go dancing and went to many of her sorority balls where her children enjoyed seeing their Mom dressed up so beautifully in a pretty evening gown, and their Dad in a handsome suit. Mary participated in Lionel's company bowling league where they enjoyed themselves very much playing amongst their friends. She and Lionel gave to their children their love of animals, with Mary leaving behind beloved granddogs, as she loved to giggle, and grandcats, too. She, herself, had her very last special pet, a cat, whom she loved very much. She helped serve with her sons' Scouting, she was a Girl Scout leader, and an Assistant Girl Scout leader for four years. She was an excellent seamstress and homemaker, and taught all her children how to use a needle and thread and sewing machine. She took her sons to their Boy Scout meetings and taught all of her girls how to bake, cook and to sell Girl Scout Cookies when it was their time to do so. She enjoyed gardening and loved to cut flowers from her yard and share them with neighbors. Mary had a host of friends, nieces and nephews who will miss her caring and thoughtful presence as well.
A donation may be made to honor the memory of Mary to Alzheimer's Association or Greater Huntsville Humane Society.
