Mary Leona "Lee" Hess

September 9, 1924 – February 2, 2015

Mary Leona (Lee) Hess, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2015. Mrs. Hess was an administrative assistant with the Marshall Space Flight Center.

Mrs. Hess was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Ester Ley. She was a native of Lemington Ontario, Canada. Mrs. Hess was a long time member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church; she was very active and strong in her faith and a vibrant Christian woman. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for anyone she came across. She very much loved life and enjoyed every moment of it.

Mrs. Hess is survived by her special friend and caregiver, Mrs. Shirley (Robert) Frazier; her extended family, Joseph and Jodie Dietz, Steven and DeAnna Martin, Emily, Ayden and Bradley Martin, Eric Scott and Mrs. Lillie Sue Watson. Lee chose to “adopt” those closest to her, as they did likewise for her! She was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

You may visit with her friends in a gathering at Valhalla Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM. There will be a funeral service in Valhalla’s chapel conducted by Rev.
