We are saddened to share that our dear Mary Alice Ingram passed away on December 5th, 2025 at the age of 88. Mary Alice was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew her. Her trademark was her winsome smile.
Mary Alice Keyser was born in Covington, Kentucky, and later moved with her family to Huntington, West Virginia. She graduated from Marshall College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. Demonstrating her dedication and work ethic, she worked two jobs and graduated in just three and a half years. From an early age, Mary Alice displayed a love for music, learning to play both the piano and the organ. She shared her musical talents within her church, her husband’s church and with various singing groups.
Mary Alice met Ken Ingram at a church camp, and after a two-year courtship, they were married. She became the devoted wife of a career Army Officer. Together, Mary Alice and Ken were blessed with four sons: Kenneth Jeffrey, Stuart Ashley, Kent Alan and James David. Their family grew to include eight grandchildren: Peter Jeffrey, Kenneth Andrew, Megan Elisabeth, Kendal Renae, Kristen Amanda, Kristopher Alan, Kyle Alexander and Katherine Alexandra. These grandchildren have, so far, welcomed eight great-grandchildren, four boys and four girls, into their families.
Mary Alice and Ken shared nearly sixty-seven years of marriage. As a military wife, she was the primary parent during Ken’s two one-year tours in Vietnam. Two of their sons were born in Germany, where the family spent six years. Mary Alice taught school full-time in South Charleston, West Virginia, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
A committed Christian, Mary Alice taught the Bible for more than forty years. She sang with numerous groups, including the choir at her current residence, Magnolia Trace Retirement Community in Huntsville, Alabama. She and Ken have been long-time members of Whitesburg Baptist Church, where Mary Alice taught the Bible to several classes. Her life was a testimony of her commitment to Jesus Christ and the Family as an institution.
Mary Alice was predeceased by her parents, James and Alice Keyser of Huntington, West Virginia and a sister, Sue Ellen, of Georgetown, Kentucky. She has a sister, Sara Castle, living in Bradenton, Florida.
