

Rebecca Fowler Grimes (Becky), 74 of Huntsville, AL passed away on 14 Oct 22 at home on Green Mountain in Huntsville, AL. Becky grew up in west Alabama in Franklin, Marion, and Colbert Counties. In Tuscumbia, AL she attended Deshler High school where she had a wonderful singing voice and was a member of the Southland Singers that almost got national TV exposure on the Ted Mack Amateur Show. It was not to be when the principal wouldn't let the singers off school for the show. Later Becky received a B.A. Degree from Lipscomb University and a M.A. Degree from the University of Mississippi where she earned outstanding teacher and honor student awards. Becky worked as a schoolteacher in Madison County, AL until she met her future husband Victor S. Grimes, Jr. of Huntsville, AL. They married on July 31,1971 and celebrated 51 years of marriage. Becky was a strong Christian wife and mother. She was a member of Mayfair Church of Christ in Huntsville and had many friends. She enjoyed Bible study, water aerobics, bridge and canasta groups and was an avid reader. Many remember her as a marvelous and funny storyteller about her family. Family meant everything to her. She was always caring and concerned about others. She knew how to be a good friend and loved everyone.
Becky was predeceased by her mother Mavis Cleveland and her father Oscar Fowler of Tuscumbia, AL and her nephew William Posey of Huntsville, AL. She is survived by her husband Victor S. Grimes, Jr. of Huntsville, AL; her son John R. Grimes, wife Crystal and son John C. Grimes of DeFuniak Springs, FL; her son David V. Grimes, wife Melissa and sons Parker and Luke of Mount Juliet, TN; her brother Dee Fowler, wife Marcia of Birmingham, AL, their son James C. Fowler, wife Meg, and their son James Fowler of Mobile, AL; sister-in-law Jane Posey, her daughter Kim Posey and Kim's daughter Sara Posey of Madison, AL, and Will's daughter Bailey McDonald of Huntsville, AL; brother-in-law Jim Grimes and his wife Peggi of Carmel, IN; and several cousins.
Becky has requested a celebration of life be held in her remembrance as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Becky’s family and friends to join in celebrating her loving life at Valhalla Funeral Home on October 22, 2022, at 9:00 AM (Visitation) followed by a celebration of life at 10 AM.
