

Rheuben L. Cummings, 96 left his earthy home on July 11, 2024 with his family by his side in Huntsville, Alabama. Rheuben, was born April 16, 1928 in Fulton, Mississippi. Rheuben grew up in Jasper, Alabama. He married Ethel Terrell in 1955 with his oldest son Phillip R. Cummings being born December 1956, and youngest son Kevin L. Cummings born May 1958.
Rheuben entered the Military in 1946 and he Proudly served over 22 years retiring in 1968 from the United States Air Force. During those years he served in various places to include Eglin AFB, Florida, F.E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY, Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, Colorado, California, Germany and Libya.
After retirement Rheuben, was a long haul trucker for 15 years. He also had various business ventures, owning a Laundromat, Diagnostic Mobile van, involved with a Daycare Center and for the last 20 years he worked with the Triana Alabama Housing Authority. He was a Deacon at Mastin Lake Church of Christ, where he was involved in the Jail Ministry. He then moved his church membership to the Meridianville Church of Christ.
Rheuben was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ethel Terrell Cummings and his eldest son Phillip R. Cummings. He is survived by his youngest son; Kevin L. Cummings, Great Nephew; Jayson C. Swain and daughter by choice; Daphne T. McKinley. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and great grandchildren and too MANY friends to count. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation for Rheuben will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation there will be a graveside service with military honors at 11:00 AM at Valhalla Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
