Thomas Christopher Cooper was born April 18, 1952 in Opelika, AL. to Charles H. “Santa C” and Eugie V Cooper. He departed this life on Monday, October 6, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Linda Brewer Cooper, mother Eugie V. Cooper, brothers Warren and Mark Cooper, sister Kim Peppers, two sons, Nathan and Joshua and Joshua’s wife Lisa, three grandchildren, and six nieces and six nephews
Chris was a member of the first graduating class of Grissom High School in 1971.
After high school he spent 15 years on the road as a professional rock n’ roll drummer. He played in many local bands, including: MIA, ROXX, Rage, The Cash Band, TAC Movement, The Bitter Wind, and Rock Fossils. When Chris came off the road Chris found his niche in the swimming pool industry where he was able to build a successful company based on his firm belief in hard work, honesty, integrity and loyalty to his customers for the past 25 years.
In Chris’ spare time you could find him skiing down a snowy mountain somewhere or walking down the beach. He also loved being on the mountain where he built a home with his own two hands alongside his wife and two sons. Chris loved being surrounded by his church family at Rescue United Methodist Church where he had been a member for 27 years. He was on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He was also very active with the children and youth ministries and activities. He was dearly loved by all. Occasionally, at Christmas, he would carry on the tradition of his father and dress up as “Santa” for the children.
Visitation will be at Valhalla Funeral Home, Saturday, October 11, 2014 beginning at 4:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM in the Chapel.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Rescue United Methodist Church Children’s Fund.
