Todd Verma was born India on March 24, 1946. He was the son of Javitri D. and Gulzari Varma. His life started in India where he attended The Junior Division National Cadet Corps. He furthered his education at AGRA University where he completed his BS and Masters in Chemistry and Zoology/Biology. He worked for the Department of Fisheries prior to pursuing a life in the United States and started a family.
His career field in Chemical Engineering spanned nearly 30 years. A majority of his career was spent at SCI in Huntsville, Alabama where he worked as a Fabrication Supervisor and Process Engineer. He shared his expert level knowledge on HAZMAT and EPA with the corporate community by serving as President of the ‘Community Awareness and Emergency Response’ (CAER) Metro Organization.
Once he retired from his career field, he pursued his passion for cooking when he opened ‘Todd’s BBQ’. He served amazing meals for close to 6 years before finally retiring. Todd, even though a reserved individual, could walk into a room full of strangers and would leave knowing you like family. He continuously gave back to his community and would always help where he could.
He would attribute his giving attitude to his Mother, who he loved very much. His strong discipline, work ethic, and emphasis on education were attributes he would credit his father for. His emphasis to ongoing learning and emphasis to serve ones’ community and country was taken to heart by his kids. His eldest son, Todd Jr., served on two Destroyers in the US Navy: DDG Ross hand DDG Gates. His daughter, Shaheena, served in the U.S. Army, and his youngest son, Sean, served on the submarine, SSN 709 H.G. Rickover, in the US Navy.
He had a passion for music, movies, and traveling. He played over 5 instruments proficiently, and had a rare talent of playing music by ear. He loved every type of music from AC/DC to ZZ-Top and loved a wide range of movies; especially ones starring Clint Eastwood.
Todd befriended his neighbors, loved his family, and his faith. Todd went to go to be with his Heavenly Father on April 19, 2025. He was never one to say, ‘Good Bye’. Instead, he said, “Always say 'I’ll see you later.’"
He is survived by his sister, Asha, his kids Todd Jr., Shaheena, and Sean, niece Veena, and nephew Vinay. He will be missed and remembered by his Family, Friends, and those he cross paths with in life.
