Wanda Joyce Hastie, 84 of Huntsville, AL passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Joyce was born in Hopkinsville, KY on November 17, 1933. She was preceded in death by her father, Eurie Burress; mother, Johnnie Grace (Neal) Austrew; daughter, Pamela Grace Hastie.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Jennifer Hastie Stedham (Burnie) of New Market, AL, Kimberly Hastie Joiner of Florence, AL; grandson, Tyler Joshua Hastie of Huntsville, AL; granddaughters, Haylee Grace Joiner and Hannah Rebecca Joiner, both of Florence, AL.
Joyce was a graduate of Hopkinsville High School in 1951. She went on to graduate with her degree in Nursing from Baptist Memorial Hospital College of Nursing in Memphis, TN in 1954. She furthered her education at Emory University in 1978 as an Enterostomal Therapist. She was employed by Huntsville Hospital from 1976 until her retirement on March 12, 1999. Joyce was the recipient of The Molly Ritch Award for outstanding RN of the Year in 1997.
