Andrew James Forrestall Hamilton Sr.

Andrew James Forrestall Hamilton Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Bridgewater, Ma., passed away March 23, 2020. Lovingly known as “Drew” or “Big Drew” by those close to him, was born July 7, 1965 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was the son of Hilary and Stanley Hamilton. Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Karen (McElroy) Hamilton. He was the proud father of his eldest son Andrew James Forrestall Jr. (A.J.), his daughter Mary Kate and his youngest son William. Andrew was so proud to see A.J.’s engagement this winter to his beautiful fiancée Amanda Pont. Andrew also leaves behind his two parents, his sister Alison and her three children. He was dearly loved by his wife Karen’s side of the family and will be missed by his mother-in-law Eleanor McElroy, brothers and sisters-in-law and nephews. Andrew lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing tennis with his friends and with his sons. He always knew the best restaurants in every city in the country and was the best tour guide. Andrew loved music, and his wife and children fondly remember many nights spent in the living room of their home listening to music and singing together. Andrew had a nickname for everyone and a knack for making people feel important. He was an especially proud father and could often be found talking about his children’s accomplishments. Andrew was a graduate of Hobart College (Class of 1987) and was a brother of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was proud to welcome his son Will into the Sigma Chi brotherhood at Wabash College last year. Andrew was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. In the last years of his life, he spent his Saturdays volunteering at Dayspring Center with his fellow parishioners. Andrew’s family would like to thank St. Vincent’s Hospital for their loving care in his final hours. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, public services will be postponed until we can again gather in groups larger than 10. Andrew's family encourages his friends and loved ones to stay tuned for more information on a date when we can come together to celebrate his life.
