

Dennis F. Smith, age 75, of Loudon, Tennessee, passed away January 21, 2022. He was born October 17, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he lived until 2019. He retired to the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Loudon, TN.
Dennis was a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1964. He had a long career in research and development in the printing ink and plastic resin manufacturing industry, working for Inland Container Corporation, Sun Chemical Corporation, and Lord Chemical Corporation.
Dennis served in the US Navy. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in a helicopter squadron aboard the USS Kearsarge.
He was founder and co-owner of City Dogs Grocery, a local pet supply business in Broad Ripple and Mass Ave.
Dennis was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a devout Catholic, and devoted father and husband. He loved lake life, spending happy days with friends fishing and boating at Lake Wawasee.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan K. Smith; daughter, Jennifer (Tom) Cooksey; son, Dennis Matthew Smith; grandchildren, McKayla McCammon, Ashlynn McCammon, Liam Smith, Sydney Smith, and Audrey Smith; and brother, Neil Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmore and Kathleen Smith and brother Myles Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 5692 Central Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana with calling at the church beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at Union Chapel Cemetery, Indianapolis.
