Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Donald Hoffman, and her cherished daughter, Donna Joan Hoffman, as well as her parents, Joseph and Helen Noone. Betty was the third oldest of 13 children. She was pre-deceased by siblings Maxine Noone, Joy Schaedel, Helen Gasper, Dennis J. Noone, Jr., Mary Anne Grande, John Thomas Noone, Colette Philhower, Catherine Woods, and Vincentia Sanders. Betty is survived by Francis Noone, Stephen Noone, and Joellen Eckstein (Ron). Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive her.
Betty was also very close with and deeply loved by her niece and nephews, Monsignor Joseph Schaedel, Jan Schaedel Marten (Chris), and John Schaedel, and by her great-nieces and nephews, Stefanie Marten Beckley (James and son Dominic Beckley), Christopher Marten, and Jenna Marten.
Betty graduated from St. John Academy and Dwyer Business College and began her career at RCA, where she met the love of her life, Don. She also worked as an office manager for Dr. C. R. Foster, DDS, and volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul and St. Vincent Hospital. Betty loved to read and play board games. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with her loved ones. Betty was a vibrant, sharp, and healthy woman who was most proud of her Catholic Faith. Despite the tragic loss of her only child, Donna, in 1969, Betty remained devoted. Prayer was a daily activity.
Betty lived the last 10 years at Hoosier Village in an Independent Apartment, enjoying meeting special friends and participating in many activities. A special thank you to the staff of Hoosier Village for making her last days so comfortable.
Everyone knew “Aunt Betty.” Although she described herself as shy and not as smart as her sisters and brothers, she was definitely wrong. She was so positive and well-read that people were drawn to be near her. Her infamous saying was, “Trust in the Lord.”
