

Frank was born on June 17, 1947, in Frankfort, Kentucky, but proudly called Indianapolis home. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965 and went on to graduate from the United States Air Force Academy in 1969.
Frank honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, including 11 years of active-duty service, and dedicated more than 30 years in total to military service through continued commitment in the U.S. Air Force reserves. In addition to his military career, Frank was an airline pilot with Eastern Airlines. Service, discipline, and responsibility defined his professional life, and he took great pride in both his aviation career and his military service.
In retirement, Frank served as an assistant freshman football coach at Cathedral High School, his alma mater.
He is survived by his sons, Mark Countryman (Michele Stevenson) and Kevin Countryman (Shannon Russell); his former wife, Lizabeth Topping Countryman; his grandchildren, Ruby, Wesley, Eleanor, Ramona, and Corinne; his siblings, Lisa Allen (Jan), Marianne Countryman, and Chris Countryman (Karen Spear); 13 nieces and nephews; and more than 30 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank Countryman and Betty Anne Countryman, and his brothers, Phil Countryman and Stuart Countryman.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on January 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary Nora Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Inurnment with military honors will then take place at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum.
