On June 13, Helen Queisser went peacefully to her final resting place with the Lord. Born on October 21, 1923 to Joseph E. Statz and Matilda R Statz, she was raised in Jeffersonville, WI. During WW II, she moved to Sacramento, CA. While staying with her future sister in law, Estrella, she met and married her future husband, Herb. They married in 1945, and later moved to Indianapolis after the war. Helen became involved in the Benefit Guild, Guardian Angel Guild, bowled in many leagues, including IAC, and was the Womens’ League Champion. She was an avid tennis player and big sports fan, particularly of the Wisconsin and IU football teams. She especially enjoyed her two favorite places on earth, Lake Wawasee and Sanibel Island. She enjoyed sitting on the deck at the lake enjoying all the activities and boats going by. Ft Myers, and later Sanibel Island, became her home for the winter. At the age of 101, she has seen 9 Pope’s ordained and 17 presidents elected! She is survived by her children Quentin, Tim (Cathy), Kelly, daughter in-law Anne, 10 grandchildren (Emily, Suzie, Courtney, Megan, Nathan, Kylie, Cory, Kitty, Andy, Jamie), and 11 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb, son Greg, and brothers Jack and Robert Statz. She was a long time member of St. Joan of Arc and Christ the King Catholic Church.
Visitation will be on June 24 at Christ the King Church from 10am-12pm, with a funeral mass immediately afterwards. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Christ the King Catholic Church.
