Lorraine Borkowski

Lorraine Borkowski, 89, of McCordsville departed this life the morning of Tuesday, September 17, 2019. She was born August 13, 1930 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to the late Ernest & Estelle (Chartier) Lawrence. Lorraine earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and later, she earned her master’s degree in special education from Butler University. On June 2, 1951, she married her sweetheart since young adulthood, M. John Borkowski in Valparaiso, Indiana. She and John ultimately resided in Indianapolis, where they would establish a dental practice that is still operated by their daughter today. Lorraine was President of the Indianapolis Women’s Dental Auxiliary, a volunteer with Crossroads Rehabilitation Center, a founding organizer of New Hope of Indiana, and a member of the Castleton Club of Kiwanis. Lorraine was a kind and gentle soul who appreciated the little things in life. She was happiest being a wife, mom and grandma. She kept her household happy, organized, clean and well fed. She was a familiar face at the dental practice and kept things organized and maintained. Lorraine is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Dr. John Borkowski; her loving children, Robert and Richard Borkowski, Dr. Christine (Scott) Borkowski – Hicks, Katie Borkowski and David Borkowski; eight devoted grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; special nieces, Linda (Barry) Allen and Karen Berg as well as a host of old friends and grateful patients. A memorial visitation for Lorraine will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 24th at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel. Final services will be in Cape Cod, MA.
