66, of Carmel departed this life Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born May 12, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN to John C. “Jack” and Patricia (Carter) Ruckelshaus. Cindy graduated from St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, Ladywood – St. Agnes Catholic High School and Vincennes University. Cindy worked in scheduling for hospitals and surgery centers. She was a kind and gentle soul who appreciated the simple things in life. She loved NASCAR and had never missed a Brickyard 400. Since 1967, she had only missed one Indianapolis 500 race to give birth to her son. She rarely passed on an opportunity to relax with a good book in a quiet place. Most of all, Cindy was happiest being at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. She loved the sights, the sounds, the comradery, the excitement and the certain peacefulness of being at the track.
She is preceded in death by her father, John C. “Jack” Ruckelshaus, II and infant sister Ruthie Nicholson Ruckelshaus. Cindy is survived by her loving children, Jennifer (Dan) Demuth and Bryan (Gretchen) Conley; darling grandchildren, Megan, Carter and Caden Demuth; her devoted mother, Patricia “Patty” (Carter) Ruckelshaus; dear siblings, Jacqueline (Joseph) Sergi and John (Mary) Ruckelshaus.
