Maria Margaret Reine

Maria M. (Funk) Reine, 54, of Indianapolis, departed this life at home on Sunday, August 28, 2022. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. Maria was born September 1, 1967, in Madison, WI to the late Robert and Margaret (nee Harlan) Funk, Sr. As a child, Maria moved to Kentland, IN and then Santa Barbara, CA where she graduated from Anacapa High School. Maria earned a degree from Regis University, Denver, CO and then settled in Indianapolis where she met and married her devoted husband, Gregg A. Reine.

Maria is survived by Gregg, her beloved son, Alexander Reine and her loving brothers, Robert Funk, Jr., Michael (Donna) Funk and Christopher (Sabina) Funk; dear father-in-law, William Reine; dear brother-in-law, Terrance (Lorna) Reine and sister-in-law, Michelle (Robert) Coleman as well as a host of nieces and nephews, Bobby, Emma Rose, Theo, Amelie, Jennifer, Anya and Jack. Maria’s childhood passion for horses gave way to the love for her son and a dedication to preserve our world for future generations through sustainable and environmentally friendly gardening and agriculture practices.

Maria was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 23rd at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Nature Conservancy, or other favorite environmental charity.
