Nancy was born on March 29, 1946 in Endicott, NY to James (Red) and Natalie McKee. She graduated from Springfield Township High School in Montgomery County, PA in 1964. Nancy went on to receive her AB in History from Cornell University in 1968.
On April 26, 1969, Nancy married David J. Mallon, Jr. in Athens, Ohio. Thereafter, she enthusiastically and unapologetically pursued her vocation as wife, mother, and grandmother. She also continued serving other families through her work and support for AYS, Inc. and Families First of Central Indiana.
Nancy led her family from a deep well of patience and welcoming for everyone she met. Her infectious smile and easy laughter lit and warmed every room or ball field she entered and made recipients believe they could soar. Her husband gave her love and security. Her sons and their wives gave her purpose. Her grandchildren gave her boundless joy. Nancy was an educator, a local historian, a holiday planner, an appointment scheduler, a puzzle maker, a cookie icer, a school project builder, a bead jeweler, a treasured gift giver, a game player, a carpool driver, a sick kid healer, a phone listener, a family messenger, an abiding friend, a reader, a gardener, a confidant, a rock, and a star that guides the way. She was never too busy. She was never uninterested.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her husband Dave, and her sons and their wives Dave, Andy (Anna), Mike (Sarah), and Dan (Katy). She is further survived by her 8 grandchildren Charlotte, Quinn, Avery, Johnny, Owen, Camryn, Cara, and Jay; her siblings Marjorie Blanchard (Ken), Barbara Kennedy (Bob, deceased), Wendy Wuest (Bob), and Tom McKee (Jill); and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Due to Covid restrictions the funeral services will be private. To attend the services virtually at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2021, visit Nancy’s obituary page at www.leppertmortuary.com. Internment will be at Washington Park Cemetery North.
