Born in Greenfield, Indiana, on November 14, 1956, Patty was the daughter of Mary Anne (Kibler) Leahy and John Edward Leahy, Sr. She attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic School and Ladywood School for Girls in Indianapolis before continuing her education at Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
Patty built a career in banking, working for both American Fletcher National Bank and Chase Bank. After retiring from the banking industry, she delighted in her part-time role serving lunch to students and staff at Bishop Chatard High School, where her humor was always appreciated.
Although Patty never had children of her own, she embraced the role of devoted and fun-loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply. They fondly recall countless sleepovers at Aunt Patty’s house and the year she arrived at Easter brunch dressed as the Easter Bunny, a great example of her playful spirit.
Patty loved to travel with friends and family. She treasured time spent playing games and cards, traveling, and sharing laughs, especially with her “St. Joan of Arc Girls of 1971.” Patty was also a proud founding member of the Broad Ripple Broads for the Cure. She cherished the camaraderie of friends and neighbors at the Red Key Tavern and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Patty’s brazen humor and generous heart will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Lucas; her parents, Mary Anne and John Leahy, Sr., her brothers, Michael Leahy and John Leahy, Jr., and her niece Colleen Court.
Patty is survived by her siblings, Katherine Hoefle (Gary), Margaret Pike, Thomas Leahy, Ann Court, Gerald Leahy (Erin), James Leahy (Claudia), her beloved nieces and nephews, Meg Faulkner, Michael Hoefle, Charlie Pike (Cristi), Jim Pike (Jamie), Dan Pike (Nicole), Joe Leahy (Cory), Carrie Court, Patrick Court, Jack Leahy (Ashley), Kathleen Leahy, Shevawn Brekan (Jon), Bridget Noonan (Robert), Mary Kate Leahy, Emily McCarthy (Ryan), Madeline Perryman (Kyle), and Charlie Leahy, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
