

Priscilla Rose Gates Keenan passed away peacefully in her home at Marquette Manor in Indianapolis on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the age of 97. She was born in Hamilton, Indiana on November 22, 1927. Priscilla was the youngest of the three children of L.O. Gates and Rose Kohl Gates. She grew up in Plymouth and the South Bend/Mishawaka areas. After graduating from Mishawaka High School, she attended Northwestern University where she met Allen Graybill. They were married in 1949 and moved to Dayton, Ohio where they raised their four children (Peggy, Peter, Eric, and Julie).
After spending 42 years in Ohio, Priscilla moved to Indianapolis in 1991 where she began another chapter in her life: part-time work at Gleaners Food Bank and Earle Travel Agency and volunteering at St. Luke’s UMC and Conner Prairie. She was an adventurous traveler who loved exploring the United States and foreign countries, always learning new things and meeting different people. In 2011, she moved into Marquette Manor and continued to volunteer and make many new friends. Priscilla will be remembered for her enduring faith in God, her kind and gentle spirit, and her love of her family.
Priscilla is predeceased by her parents, her sister Sue Thorne, her son Eric, her husband Allen Graybill, and her second husband Vernon Keenan. She is survived by her three children: Peggy (Marv) Goldschmidt, Peter (Didi) Graybill, and Julie (Bob) Williams, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and her brother Van Gates.
A celebration of Priscilla’s life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Marquette Manor in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Marquette Manor Foundation or Marquette Protestant Chapel at 8140 Township Line Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46260.
