Richard Paul Terheide, a devoted and kind-hearted individual, passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on November 4, 1947, in Anderson, Indiana, Richard graduated from St. Mary's High School in Anderson, IN, before pursuing higher education at Ball State University, where he earned a Master's degree.
Richard proudly served in the US Army and dedicated 37 years of his professional life as an elementary school teacher at Morristown Elementary School. Richard's passion for education extended beyond the classroom, leading a Drama Club at the school where he worked, inspiring countless students with his enthusiasm and creativity.
An active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenfield, IN, he contributed to his community with the same devotion he showed in all aspects of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan S. Terheide, and his two daughters, Sarah E. Terheide and Rachel K. Terheide. Richard is also survived by his sister, Theresa Stewart, and his brother, Robert Brian Terheide. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Terheide, and his parents, Garland and Doris Terheide.
Visitation will be held at 9am, January 10, 2026 followed by a memorial service at 11am.
