Robert (Bob) Decraene, 87 of Indianapolis, Indiana and Naples, Florida passed away on 8/7/2022 in peace. He was a retired Certified Public Accountant, business leader and volunteer in the Indianapolis community. Bob was married 64 years to Geraldine (Gerry) Flanigan Decraene, who predeceased him in 2021 and is survived by their six children. Daniel (Patricia) Decraene of Atlanta, Georgia, James Decraene of Duarte, California, Suzanne (Scott) Fore of St. Charles, Illinois, Robert (Cheryl) Decraene of Troy, Michigan, Diane (Greg) Brown and Michael (Megan) Decraene both of Indianapolis and 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren (who all loved their grandpa). He is also survived by his stepsister, Alberta Bauer of Warren, Michigan. Family was everything to Bob and he lived for the opportunity to see and talk to each family member on every occasion. Bob and Gerry truly enjoyed their active family life and wonderful retirement with their love of golf, domestic and international cruising and travel, but especially the many family gatherings. Bob spent his entire 38 year business career with Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterHouse Coopers LLP) in the Detroit and Indianapolis offices as a client service Partner, Managing Partner and Midwest Regional Managing Partner. After retiring in 1994, he continued his active volunteer work as a Trustee/Director at Marian University, Noble of Indiana, the Y.M.C.A of Central Indiana and in Naples volunteering at AARP Tax Services and Habitat for Humanity. He was a strong believer in giving back to the community and to those less fortunate with his time and resources. Bob was also a member at Meridian Hills C.C (and former President) in Indianapolis and Colliers Reserve C.C in Naples, Florida where he and Gerry spent winters on Vanderbilt Beach. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Indianapolis and St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples. Bob was born January 19, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan and was the only child of George and Evelyn (Devos) Decraene. Bob graduated from the University of Detroit in 1956 with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and married Gerry and started with Coopers & Lybrand all in the same year. Bob served in leadership positions with a variety of community organizations. He served on the Boards of Trustees of his alma mater from 1984 to 1990 and as a Trustee of Marian University from 1991 to 2010. He has served on the board of Noble of Indiana since 1991 and was a member of the University of Detroit Mercy Business Administration Hall of Honor. Bob has been a member of the YMCA foundation Board of Trustees since 1991 and he received their Lifetime Achievement Award. Visitation will be 4-7pm at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel, 704 E. 86th St, Monday August 15, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Dr. E, Indianapolis on Tuesday August 16th, 2022 at 11:00am. Burial will be held in private at the Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
