She graduated from Brownstown High School, class of 1959, and was Band Majorette her senior year. After graduating from the Indiana Central Business College, she then worked at Pure Oil Company where she met her husband, Don Hale.
Then Susie’s career took her to Washington Township School System at North Central High School as an administrative assistant. She was in charge of graduation diplomas, a job she took great pride in and was very proficient in. She worked at the high school for over 44 years, retiring in 2014. That is a lot of diplomas! She was also a big supporter of North Central Cheerleaders as she always accompanied her husband Don (Director of Transportation for 24 years, retiring in 1998), transporting their beloved North Central Cheerleaders. Don sadly died on a trip to regionals in 2007.
While working for North Central, Susie was a member of the Indiana & National Association of Educational Office Professionals, The Order of Eastern Star, and East 91st Street Christian Church. She was a longtime member of Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority and would have received her 50 year pin at the St. Louis convention this summer.
Being lifelong members of White River Yacht Club, Susie enjoyed boating and waterskiing on White River. She also enjoyed motorcycle riding and camping.
She enjoyed wintering in Englewood, Florida and was a member of the Venice Corvette Club. She was also a member of Corvette Indy, Circle City Corvette Club, and Indiana Corvette Enthusiasts.
