She studied design at IIT in Chicago, continued her education in Mathematics at the University of Chicago, and completed her PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of Michigan. Thérèse was a writer and independent researcher. In her book, “Fundamentals of Story Logic,” she examined the foundation of, and articulated a general framework for, literary studies built on Greimassian semiotics.
Thérèse is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bart S. Ng; mother, Janina Budniakiewicz; siblings, Harriet (Jacek) Wojtaszkiewicz, James Budniakiewicz, Barbara Budniakiewicz, and Bernadette Budniakiewicz; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Tadeusz Budniakiewicz.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 2–4 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, with a service to follow at 4 PM.
