Thomas J. Connor Jr.

Thomas J. Connor, Jr age 94 of Indianapolis, IN passed away December 9, 2018. Tom was born on October 20, 1924 to the late Eileen Neeson and Thomas Joseph Connor, Sr. He graduated from high school in Hammond, IN and was a 1947 graduate of Indiana University Bloomington. At IU he was a member of Phi Delta Theta and met the love of his life Anne Pope. They were married on October 19, 1947 and were blessed to have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year before Anne passed away.

Tom is survived by his son; Dr. Thomas J. (Maureen) Connor, III and his daughter Christine (Dr. Robert H.) Hawes and daughter in law Beverly Blackburn Connor. Tom’s six grandchildren are: Megan (David) Knueve, Caitlin Connor, Casey and Carly Connor, Grant Hawes, and Taylor (Andrew) Kay, as well as his great grandchildren Connor, Henry, and Grayson. He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Todd Connor and great granddaughter Madison Anne Kay.

Tom had a long and successful career in the insurance business including owning his own Independent Insurance Agency. His memberships included the Columbia Club, Indianapolis Athletic Club, Highland Golf and Country Club, Indiana Independent Insurance Agents Association, Optimist Club. Tom loved being on the golf course, reading a good book and discussing the latest topic that had caught his attention. He had an upbeat and optimistic attitude about life and always had a smile for everyone even as his health was failing. Tom was kind, thoughtful, gentle, smart, generous, and witty. He was a loyal loving husband and a protective, supportive, and forgiving father and grandfather.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Leppert Mortuary- Nora Chapel for a visitation, with service being at 1:00 pm.
