Charles Timothy Wilcox, known as Tim by most, was born in 1939 in Indianapolis to Charles Shepard and Elizabeth Josephine Wilcox. He passed away peacefully on January 29th at age 85 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Neva, and his three daughters, Jennifer Lambert (Paul Anthony Lambert Jr.), Stacey Wright (Scott) and Wendy Thanisch; Grandchildren, Paul Anthony Lambert, III (Nancy), Hannah Watts (Stephen), Timothy Jaden Lambert, Madeline O’Hara, Natalie Ryan (David), Ben and Anna Wright; and Great-Grandchildren Luca and Cecilia Lambert, and Georgia Watts.
Married for 61 years to his best friend and soulmate, Tim traveled with Neva around the world, embarking on journeys to places such as Peru, Egypt, Europe, the Caribbean and South Pacific. His adventurous spirit led him to develop a passion for scuba and skydiving, as well as hiking and camping. Most beloved of his campsites were the higher altitudes of Mount Shasta. He was a dedicated runner for over 30 years, finishing the Indianapolis Mini Marathon for 29 of them. Throughout adulthood, his committed focus on health and wellness allowed him to not only undertake these passions, but also become a four-time cancer survivor. He also battled Parkinson's for the last 12 years of his life.
After graduating with the first class from North Central High School in 1958, Tim attended Indiana University from 1958-61, then joined the United States Army in 1961. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1967 before fully establishing himself as a lifelong entrepreneur and active community leader. He began his lifetime career in the security industry working for Circle Alarm. Then in 1970, he acquired International Investigators, Inc, the company for which he served as president until his retirement in 2017. During that time, he and his wife built the company into one of the most recognized investigative firms in the Midwest with offices for a period of years located as far as Las Vegas and San Francisco.
Tim Wilcox had not only a deep love for his family but also for his lifelong home, Indianapolis. He was active in numerous organizations and will be missed by many in the community. He can best be described as a dedicated Hoosier and American whose stated mission was to make the world a better place.
